1. Do you have a favorite author?
I have so many ‘favourite’ authors! I love the Bronte sisters, Roald Dahl, Jasper Fforde, John Harwood, Wilkie Collins, Agatha Christie – the list goes on. I’m the philandering type, I’m afraid.
2. Have you read everything he or she has written?
I’ve read a majority of those authors but I cannot say that I have read everything they have ever written. I would like to though and it’s something I’m aiming for.
3. Did you LIKE everything?
Of the ones I have read, mostly yes. The one exception was Charlotte Bronte’s Villette with which I was a little disappointed and it is for the silliest reason. Half the text was in French, and not being a fluent reader in the lovely French language, it really distracted me from the story since I had to keep flicking to the endnotes for the translation. It’s nothing against the story or Bronte as a writer, but of Time. Well brought up young ladies in Victorian England were expected to know French, after all.
4. How about a least favorite author?
Least favourite? This is a slightly oxymoronic question! None, I suppose. I wouldn’t be reading them if I didn’t enjoy them.
5. An author you wanted to like, but didn’t?
Virgina Woolf. I think her work is incredible and so original and unique. However, I really cannot read her work. I continually struggle with it. The ones I have read, Mrs Dalloway and A room of one’s own, are incredible but also incredibly difficult. Perhaps when I’m older and wiser…

Ooh – the Bronte sisters and Roald Dahl! I can’t believe I forgot them.
I like the Bronte’s too. Wolfe can be difficult. Perhaps A Room of One’s Own appeals to those of us who old enough to remember when women didn’t have the choices they have now. It’s my favorite Wolfe piece.
I had exactly the same problem with Villette! I hate having to go back forth to the notes!

I’ve tried to read Jaspper Fford, but not really got into his books. Perhaps I should try again.
I know what you mean about Woolf, but I like her – although she’s not a favourite ;0)

The Woman in White is on my pile so long that I have to read sometime soon. Several bloggers have recommended the book to me.
Mmm… “The Woman in White” is good, good stuff. I have “The Moonstone” on my TBR shelf at the moment too. I’m also a big fan of Jasper Fforde, although I don’t really care for his Nursery Crimes series. The Thursday Next series is much, much better.
Virgina Woolf is a great bit gaping hole in my reading profile. I’ve never read a thing by her. She’s on my “one of these days…” list.
Ah, Roald Dahl should’ve been in my list! I’ve been wanting to read Virginia Woolf for a long time (since I was a kid, really!) but never did for some reason.
Hmmm… I have wanted to read Virginia Woolf for some time now, but considering my pile of to-read-next books, I guess it will be at least a year before I get to her works.
